Glass properties

The most important function of window glass panes is to provide thermal and sound insulations. A glass unit usually consists of two or three glass panes, which are connected to one another with a profile made of aluminium, stainless steel and plastic or profile made of composite material. In addition to standard glass panes, tinted, hardened or laminated glass panes may be ordered and as a result even the most demanding tastes can be satisfied.

klaas kirgas 1 Float glass is, as the name indicates, a sheet of glass made by floating molten glass on a bed of molten tin and then cooled. This technology ensures ideal flat surface of the sheet and enables further processing.
 klaas lowe 1 Low-E or energy-efficient glass is a low emissivity glass that is coated with a very thin metal layer, which prevents heat escaping through the windows without compromising visible light. Studies have shown that the coating reduces heat loss up to 70%.
  Solar control glass reflects partly away sun's heat and light energy, protecting the premises from too bright sunshine.  Glass may be complemented with other properties such as energy saving, noise reduction, self cleaning, safety, etc.
 klaas karastatud 2 Toughened or tempered glass is mechanically about five times stronger and more heat resistant than normal glass and has great flexural strength. If toughened glass does break, it crumbles into small granular chunks with blunt edges, which are quite safe.
klaas lamineeritud 3 Laminated glass consists of two or more glass sheets which are held in place by elastic plastic interlayers.  When the glass breaks, the layer holds the pieces together and therefore this type of glass is particularly well suited for large openings extending from the floor to ceilings. As the interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, the glass can be used to prevent invasion, escape or protect from bullets. Different functions as energy saving, sun control and noise reduction can be added to the laminated glass applications.
 klaas lamineeritud 4 Safety glass protects people from possible injuries when breaking.  This type of glass can be complemented with other functions, such as energy saving, sun control, noise reduction, self cleaning, various designs, etc. Safety glasses are either laminated or toughened.
  Acoustic noise control glass - noise reduction characteristics of the glass are achieved by using glass sheets of different thickness; laminating glass with normal or special noise reduction layer and by leaving air space between glass layers. Best results are achieved using special acoustic insulation layer on a laminated glass sheet. This type of glass can be complemented with other functions, such as energy saving, sun control, self cleaning, safety, etc.
  Self cleaning glass is covered with transparent photo catalytic and hydrophilic coating. The glass is functioning due to sun's UV radiation, which breaks down dirt whilst rain washes of the glass not leaving behind any marks of dried water splashes. This type of glass can be complemented with other functions, such as energy saving, sun control, safety, security, various design solutions, etc.
  Screen printed and colour coated glass are perfect for use on facades or public premises.

Specific weight of the glass is 2,5 x 103 kg/m3, i.e. 1 m2 glass, with thickness of 1 mm, weights 2,5 kg. Filling inside the insulated glass unit: 90% argon gas.
